Her Story

Coming from a Southeast Asian background, spirituality and mysticism have always been part of Charlotte's experience; but like the children of many immigrant families, survival was the guiding force that shaped her early years.

After the death of her first love in 2007, she began a journey to learn how to be free from suffering. Spirituality, activism and creativity each played a role and she found where she thrives best - at the intersections of love, justice and healing.

In 2017, she became the founder of Get Free! where she mentors BIPOC, women and LGBTQ folks as a Spiritual and Transformational Coach, helping them heal from oppression and cultivate truly liberated lives. Since then, she has worked with hundreds of people in the field of personal development, helping them cultivate lives full of trust, confidence, intimacy, connection, mindfulness and compassion with themselves and all their relations.

The work of emotional mastery is a path she devotes herself and her life to everyday. She has a daily practice of meditation, a space where she connects with her body and soul in mindfulness. She is blessed to serve and share these practices which have so profoundly changed her life.

Lineage

The meditation and embodiment practices shared by Charlotte come from her training with the Plum Village Community of Engaged Buddhism, whose lineage connects back to Zen Buddhist Master Thích Nhất Hạnh, the founder of the Engaged Buddhism movement. She also works within a Theravada Buddhist framework, which comes through Southeast Asia via Vietnamese, Thai and Burmese traditions. These are techniques and forms of wisdom that were shared by the Buddha almost 2,600 years ago in South Asia.

She is a practitioner of Cha Dao "The Way of Tea,” a practice that comes from ancient Chinese Daoist lineage. She is dedicated to sharing the medicine of the Leaf through Tea Ceremony in the tradition of The Global Tea Hut, as taught by Wu De in Taiwan.

She has been mentored by and completed trainings with Spring Washam, Lama Rod Owens, Sebene Selassie, Venerable Bhikkhu Analayo, Guy Armstrong, Gil Fronsdal, Phillip Moffitt, Susie Harrington, Brian Lesage, Dawn Scott, and Ying Chen (mindfulness meditation), Lily Huang (somatic healing), Ev’Yan Whitney (sacred sexuality), Shereen Sun (ethical entrepreneurship), Luna Love (feminine leadership), Brenden Durrell (plant medicine), Jamé Ellis (feminine embodiment) and Rachael Maddox (trauma resolution), and Gigi Azmy (conscious relationship coach).

Born and raised in Los Angeles, her life and spiritual practice have been deeply influenced by Black liberation theology, as well as Mexican, Islamic, Jewish, Indigenous First Nations and African diasporic spiritual traditions, to which she is forever grateful.
